the east end (puzzled)

the eastend (puzzled), 20ft x 12ft photo-mural on dibond, Commissioned by the City of Barrie.
The puzzle is available for use at the Barrie Public Library

This puzzle was made for a public art installation on the Eastview Arena called the east end (puzzled). I stitched screen shots from Google Earth together to create a high-resolution print. I then used the roads and pathways as the matrix for cutting out the puzzles pieces. I invite community members and students to an event, where I took photos of them putting the puzzle together, and stitched these photographs together to create what appears to be a seamless image of community members piecing together the puzzle of the east end of Barrie. the east end (puzzled) brings awareness to this relationship between the body, aerial perspectives and the land, teaches a little local geography, and celebrates the people, history and communities that continue to shape the East End of Barrie. The goal was to create a fun and engaging artwork that will inspire the imagination of the local community.
