video documentation of light sensitive theremin with arduino, four sensors, four speakers, and the five o’clock evening sun. June 13th 2010

“There was one man who was interested in the color of music, the connection between light and music, and that was Einstein.” – Leon Theremin, Russian Inventor of the theremin.

The theremin is an electronic instrument that can be played without contact from the player. The theremin was originally the product of Russian government-sponsored research into proximity sensors. RCAF Station Beaverbank is an abandoned NORAD Radar Station active from 1954 until 1964, when it operated as early detection station on the Pinetree Line during the cold war.
